This post is haunting me in a good way. The whole time reading it, I had the movie Return to Oz in the back of my mind, seeing it as the weirdness that bursts forth upon confronting Brutalism head on.

I just can't seem to square the weird dread I feel seeing a brutalist church like St. Francis de Sales in Michigan (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S…). It evokes more of a servile than healthy filial fear of the Lord in seeing such a structure dedicated to worship.
