Wow. Wonderful read. Edges were a HUGE thing when I went to school in England as a teenager before moving back to Canada. If your edges or sideburns were NOT LAYED...you were ridiculed! The English black girls I went to school with were ruthless when it came to hairstyles...your hair better be slicked just like the photos you showed or you were made to feel very uncomfortable....I would slick my side burns and edges with the soft n sheen jam like my life depended on it 😆...fanatastic article going through the eras and what defined the styling of edges.
