When I have suggested this to the men in my life, they look at me like I have six heads. I think the impulse is to assume that I feel this way because I was not sportsy and I am sour grapes. However, I cannot reconcile it with traditional Catholicism and I feel that competitive sports in particular fosters something in women that later manifests in destructive behaviors in their behaviors with men. Additionally, I have noticed a trend in local school sports where the female teams get praised and extolled and when the boy’s teams play its crickets.
