Christ made extraordinary promises to His Church—that She would be a universal kingdom, protected from defeat, guided into all truth, etc.—precisely in order to prevent the very thing so many protestants claim happened, and thus justifies their separation from it.

The Church was founded by God, not men. But when your whole theory relies on treating it as if it was founded by men (and thus capable of being fundamentally corrupted or destroyed), you’ve lost the plot.
