About Dizzy and his influences on players, I was thinking, he would sound as nice playing "It Could Happen To You" with a 50s Miles's section? It seems to me that Diz's language require certain harmonic and rhythmic concept to work. Here in Nightgale, Lonnie sounds amazing but on Easy to Love, his lines sounds somewhat slippery with what Clifford plays on the cymbal.

Diz plays Stablemates with his big bands, nice solo, but I feel his lines doesn't outline clearly the changes, too chromatic and meandering. It seems that his language is less suited to harmonic heavy things or rhythm sections coming from a Philly Joe/Tony Williams style.

So in the end, since mostly the Parker concept was what modern jazz builded upon to, it makes more sense that players like Cliff, KD, etc were more emulated than Diz.
