Make money doing the work you believe in

We need to dispel some sewer slide myths.

Sometimes there are signs. Sometimes the person says what they’re going to do and does it.

In fact, few people don’t leave some kind of warning for someone.

And the cause is rarely to teach someone a lesson, despite the glamorization of this idea in shows like 13 Reasons Why. Most people do it because they see no other way out of overwhelming pain.

And no, this is not a cry for help, and I do not intend to do anything. If I was going to, I would’ve done it by now because my life is a nightmare. And I don’t have that option because I know it would just spread the misery to the people I love. And a lot of them have been through enough.

But I’m sick and tired of this “attention” narrative. Just because you don’t experience a wide and profound spectrum of human emotion, doesn’t mean other people don’t. Just because you’ve been through things that you consider survivable, doesn’t mean others have.

But now we’re getting into lessons on empathy, which is a dying concept in this country in and of itself.

And you wonder why everything’s getting worse and so many people are miserable.

We didn’t evolve for this hyper-individualistic rat race. We aren’t built for our value to be tied to our bank accounts and our clout. The society we’ve built is averse to our nature as mammals, and until people realize that and do something about it, the suffering will continue.

Just stop acting surprised about it. “There weren’t any signs!” Wake up and look around you, FFS. There are signs everywhere, every single day.
