The author was stating a fact.. millions did die in the last so called super el nino. But that was in 1887. Scroll forward and the Earth 🌎 is in a totally different place, geopolitically, climatically and environmentally.

Just for simplicity- just compare the 2 images. 1887... the heat is clearly visible BUT with blue i.e. colder waters surrounding the heat line.

The other image shows the current state of the heat line but there is NO surrounding blue, at all.

That's because the baseline global temperature and of the Pacific ocean in 1887 was far different to the temperatures today.

That's what this author was raising.

The impacts of a record strong El Nino in today's climate will be different to the past.

We have the technology and ability to overcome a lot, but the author is raising a serious point that this is a warning ⚠️ that must be taken seriously.

Professor James Hansen and other scientists have been warning of the likelihood of a major El Nino for months.

There is also the massive issue of EEI.. Earth Energy Imbalance..
