Developing an internal compass for how to navigate the complexities of such an opaque industry is one of the keys to sustaining a life & career in the arts, and yet so difficult to do! Probably because so much of it is unspoken or coded, and becomes easy to conflate things like visibility with financial stability—but this kind of transparency & knowledge exchange amongst artists is so needed (a huge motivation for us starting Beyond the Studio podcast as well)! We are our own greatest asset and resource as artists!
