I must wonder if the lessons from Hormuz might be reversed. China needs to keep the Malacca Strait, Taiwan Strait and South China Sea open and is the one trying to change the status quo. USA, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, ... might be in Iran's position. No need for USA surface Navy to be involved at all. Area denial cuts both ways.
