Severin, I applaud your shift in emphasis. It is especially meaningful because you have worked the model/statistics side of the street. You’ve earned the right to take this view.

In my own writings and work, I too have come to appreciate the value of testimony, stories, anecdotes, case studies. We may instinctively resist the best analytically supported advice, but when faced with a human story, we become amazingly open to the “moral” of a story.

It’s ironic, since the strongest form of trust is personal, that we have all let study of the subject drift toward the impersonal.
