For the first 29 years of my adult life, I followed a road that had been laid out for me by others. A road designed by parental, cultural, and religious influences. I was miserable on that road. For years, my heart and soul told me there was a better road for me to travel. Twenty years ago this year, I left that rocky road and embarked in a different direction. Nobody understood except my son. I was otherwise alone to follow this new road my soul was leading me on. It was the road to peace, contentment, and spiritual fulfillment.
