Love this piece. Brought me back to my own care giving days for my maternal grandmother (Nani), for whom I used to bring a bedpan at night. She said that exact sentence to me once “I’ll never forget what you’ve done for me.” I think that’s the highest praise I’ve received to this day. I love your metaphor of the nested dolls. I can relate to feeling that my maternal aunts and Nani have all been my mothers. It makes me feel more inspired to treat them as such, and to stay in touch more. Thank you for that, Janan!
