I absolutely agree that it's "that the mind has a nature and operates in a certain chosen way, and if done right, it can grasp what exists."
I experienced what you describe just this morning. I had been frustrated by the behavior of person X, and was trying to organize my thoughts about a possible solution. Mainly, I was trying to organize my own position in regard to person X, in the hope of trying to make it clear to them.
But then I got new cognitive information by watching some older video clips that showed me, repeatedly, how genuinely passionate person X was about the very value that had frustrated me. I could see that that value was of the utmost importance to them.
By ππ¦π’π³π―πͺπ―π¨ more facts about the person I could see that it was wrong of me to want them to change, to give up a fundamental value.
Throughout the process I had particular emotions, but it was only more cognitive knowledge that helped me solve my problem, and then my emotions changed accordingly, and drastically, for the better.
This was a thoughtful article that kept my interest the entire time. Getting clearer about the relationship between reason and emotion is crucial, especially if we want to promote reason, so thank you!
