In Marina's family's village, there is also a 'Festa dos Imigrantes' (it was last weekend, in fact), the title of which, and indeed the word in common use, has always struck me as strange, as I have read reports of those who emigrated coming back home and being dismayed to be called 'imigrantes' – 'We're not immigrants!' they rightly complain – we've just come home to our own country! 'Festa dos Emigrantes/Emigrados' ...? Not sure it would catch on... At least they're not calling it 'Festa dos "Avecs"'...!
