Sounds like you've had quite the adventure! I'm from southern California, so it was a treat to read about this little corner of the earth from someone else's eyes. I've actually never been to Angels National Forest myself although a friend of mine highly recommends it. She and her partner is part of a nomadic community that migrates there in the winter months. Perhaps you might run into them if you choose to revisit. :)
