I would build upon this by saying that, within a certain mindset, large companies become Polities unto themselves within our current legal and governmental system. You can see this in both domestic and international law. Building upon your article, they have a company social structure. What is more, if they become large enough, they're able to make corporate contracts that are basically treaties within both domestic and international operations. They are able to flaunt laws, only receiving penalties that are given in dollar amounts most of them time. They are able to add these to operational costs and pass them on to customers.

As such, I like them to Artificial Polities, and have written as such. I find it ironic, because in many ways they have more of a Polity, more social life, more laws, structure, finding of a wife/husband - than most Americans do outside of a company at this point in history.

Which is why they have the power that they do.
