The most balanced and thoughtful accounts I've read on Mayne & Rogue Heroes. Perhaps, as for so many modern figures, we feel he should be reimagined as a "celebrity", with the VC as some sort of Golden Globe. I believe he would have hated that. My feeling is he deserved it in 1945, but if not then, perhaps never.
