I love writing, the actual process of getting stuck in and getting into flow.

I love research, daydreaming and having conversations about the beginnings of ideas and stories that I have.

What’s always a challenge is getting to the blank page in the first place, and once there not reflexively distracting myself with some nonsense before I can properly dig in.

To use the exercise analogy- I’m a half-decent athlete and I love working out and getting stronger and fitter. But. Every morning it takes a lot of effort, coaxing, will and energy to get from my proverbial bed to the proverbial gym. In spite of how rewarding I find each session once I am actually there.

I don’t love writing

I love having written

It’s kind of like working out—I procrastinate doing it, but once I finally do, I feel better
