Haha, you may be right! I guess it's possible that the left gained power and was just too incompetent to deal with climate change or other unintended consequences of their ideas, but she does seem to think that climate change is a real problem and people were happier and more free when gay marriage was allowed, so I don't think she's only hitting the left here.

I also don't think it's pandemic trutherism because the pandemics were obviously real -- lots of people died and suffered in other ways (although wasn't Charlie mostly damaged by the medicine? Hmmm...). As for solutions, she certainly condemns the overwhelming power of the state, but she also doesn't seem to think "just let people die" is the answer either. Perhaps rather than offering solutions she wants us to think ahead to the next pandemic and ask ourselves hard questions about how much liberty we're willing to sacrifice to preserve life, and how to prevent ourselves from losing our own paradise.

(WAIT. PARADISE LOST... the recurring Edens... sin and redemption... I bet someone who remembers their MIlton better than I do would have a field day with this book)
