But the solution shouldn’t be a pardon unilaterally decided by the president. Trump abused that power and will do so again.
The pardon power should be transferred to a system in which people other than the president can prevent abuse.
Great idea Will. I look forward to full GOP cooperation when the next Dem Pres tries to reform it. Meanwhile, I believe that lack of effective Dem pushback against GOP trashing norms for the last thirty years has done more to make people cynical about democracy than anything else. That and the constant bothsidesing of legacy US media. The prosecution of HB was a travesty. The fecklessness of US elites towards elite misbehaviour needs to end. Maybe now the GOP might learn. Oh, and nothing Biden did here comes remotely close to trumps pardoning of war criminals and people who would otherwise testify against him. Spare me the pearl clutching.
