Luca is a long-term AI optimist, and Bending Spoons has worked with AI since 2010. He believes AI will reshape the fabric of software over decades. In the medium term, he thinks AI can be disruptive for some SaaS segments but sees it mostly as a tailwind for their model. Building a product like Jira with one prompt is still far away. It’s not because AI cannot generate code, but because reliability, nuance, data migration, and user expectations require deep refinement.
For Bending Spoons, the advantage comes from being a superior operator. AI magnifies engineering productivity, design quality, product iteration, and growth optimization. Since they already invest heavily in proprietary tools, custom integrations, and AI-driven recruiting, Luca expects the gap between Bending Spoons and average operators to widen. Their diversified portfolio also cushions the downside. Even if one unit declines very quickly, the broader platform continues compounding. In a world where software is easier to build but not necessarily easier to operate at scale, Luca believes Bending Spoons becomes more valuable, not less.
