I lost another subscriber today, because, as they wrote in the unsubscribe message, “I can no longer support Substack or other platforms that condone and support hate speech and fascism.” I get a few of these a week. It’s not bankrupting me, but it’s a steady drag on my willingness to stick with you guys while you screw around with the Nazis on here.

Your terms of service condone hate speech, and you again right here confirm that while you personally may not like it, Substack the platform (including Notes) condones it. I believe you, that you aren’t personally in favor of hate speech, but that means nothing to my would-be customers who will keep voting with their subscription dollars not to support me as long as this platform has the policies it does. Eventually I’ll decide it’s not worth staying, and eventually so will everyone else who doesn’t condone the racism, the transphobia, and the antisemitism here. This is the arc of every website that has tried what you’re doing. I hope you learn from the past before it’s too late!
