no shade y’all but how do I get out of the “Pinterest coded-Substack is like reading the morning paper-wannabe Carrie Bradshaw-fake intellectual princess babygirl thought daughter” algorithm… not everyone is meant to be a philosopher! where are the stories? the book and film reviews? the well researched essays on global feminisms? the poetry and prose??? I need more of that!

I’m writing an article about lifehacking. What lifehacks are there for parents who want to spend less money, travel more, live an unconventional life, etc?
We spent seven and a half years living on our sailboat. Three and a half of those were learning how to live in that new environment, saving everything we could, and using it to travel for “camping” and vacations. The next four were spent traveling to and living in other countries. Four years, three kids, and a dog acquired along the way—we’ve gained a deep appreciation for what we actually need in life, and what brings us joy. I hear much less “I want XYZ” from my kids, and the things they do want are more practical, but still enjoyable.
Major lifehack and not for everyone, but absolutely brilliant for changing our outlook!
