In regards to the perception of overreaction, what are your thoughts as to Beijing's perceptions of the CAI & how it relates to all this? It seems fundamentally illogical that Beijing would go to the trouble to negotiate the CAI, which was represented in Western media as a fairly significant win for China in regards to US attempts to align the EU against China, only for Beijing to potentially scupper it only a few months later with these counter-sanctions in the face of mostly performative EU sanctions. Does Beijing believe the EU will fold on this issue?
