In retrospect, the work of Card & Krueger, overturning a large body of empirical research on minimum wages, can be seen as prefiguring the replication crisis in psychology. They found a whole literature in which p-hacking and publication bias produced an illusory consensus.

But this wasn't seen as a crisis: rather as scientific progress, earning Nobel awards for Card & Krueger and producing an outpouring of new research which largely (not uniformly) supported their conclusions.
