, and not at all troubling. I think being an artist is part of the art, whether publically performed or not, because the art is just an expression of the artist. Whether our gaze is on the art or the artist, we are ultimately looking at the person, just indirectly or directly.

I had a troubling realization about my artist and creator friends the other day - I rarely consume any of the art they create but, instead, voraciously consume their identity as an artist.
