Frederick E. Hoxie is professor emeritus of history at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the author, most recently, of This Indian Country: American Indian Activists and the Place They Made. Dennis Aftergut is a former assistant U.S. attorney and Supreme Court advocate who writes on national affairs.
