Hu Xijin strikes me as a Tucker Carlson type, no? His whole schtick/life is based around telling outgroups how completely right and correct and dominant he/his in group are, and the emotion or feeling of satisfaction/dominance he gets from that. Of course, the irony is he needs the outgroup (in his case, quite directly, as he tweets in English a lot) in order to have that feeling of dominance, so in that sense he's a slave to the very group he's trying to dominate. It's an odd psychological combo, it seems to me, and he doesn't really seem like he's growing aware of it or out of it.
