One of my takeaways from Trump’s State of the Union is how marginal his hostility to Canada is to his agenda.

While his economic warfare and annexation threats dominate the headlines here, there’s probably four dozen other issues that matter more for Americans.

Maybe that gives us some leverage in this trade war.

In the short-term, Canadians are psychologically prepared for economic pain, in a way that Michiganders, Washingtonians, upstate New Yorkers etc. probably aren’t.
