The Florida-based beef company, Corte Argentino USA LLC, has recalled over 29,600 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina into Florida and Texas without a follow-up inspection after arriving in the US, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The FSIS announcement about the massive recall states that approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef products were imported from Argentina “without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States.” (Reinspection is the process whereby an official verifies paperwork, labeling, origin, and checks for safety or quality problems.)
This notice has been classified as high risk and has a health hazard with a “reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death,” according to the report.
