Erendira Castillo

Hi, I’m Julie. I am a cognitive neuroscientist who is passionate about brain health and wellness. On my substack Better Brain you will find:

  • Tips to improve brain performance

  • Break downs of neuroscience research studies

  • Simple ways to be proactive about your brain health

  • Brain myth busters

If you are fascinated by the brain, please say hi!

At 36, I started a business from scratch.

At 45, I sold that business and “retired.”

By 47, I’d written and published three novels (four more since then)

At 48, I got a Master’s Degree in Crime Writing

At 52, I earned a Ph.D. in Creative Writing

Now, at 54, I am traveling the world and teaching women how to use story to plot and create their Extraordinary Lives.

You are NEVER too old!

One of the most elegant forms of emotional maturity is the ability to feel self disappointment without letting it turn into self shaming.

It allows you to take ownership of your shortcomings without dehumanizing yourself.

It also allows you to handle what you perceive as failure with more grace.

What’s your favorite luxury?

I’m new to substack, and not entirely clear who gets this note … but if you do, could you hit reply or comment or whatever and LMK so I know how to use this feature?

I just published my first paid subscriber post - It’s so intimate.
