Thinking I could escape.

Searching for a safe haven that didn’t exist,

For a protective shield that was never there,

And a superhero to rescue me, nowhere to be found.

What can I do?

With a flicker of hope,

A smattering of courage,

And a dash of daring,

I halted.

Let the unknown, the negatives and the expectations surround me.

I stood my ground.

Uncertain.

But here I am,

Standing and pushing back.
