Notes

In a no-holds-barred interview with Joshua Toomey of Talk Toomey, SALIVA's vocalist Bobby Amaru and bassist Brad Stewart didn’t hold back when addressing the confusion surrounding Josey Scott (a.k.a. Joseph Sappington), the band’s original singer. Recently, Josey has been performing with his solo band under different names, like JOSEY SCOTT – THE ORIGINAL VOICE OF SALIVA and JOSEY SCOTT’S SALIVA, causing quite a stir.

When asked if this has created "confusion in the marketplace," Brad didn’t mince words: “There is, actually.” Bobby chimed in, “Yeah, Josey’s just being Josey—always thought he was a one-man show. He’s doing what he’s gonna do, but it’s making things confusing.”

Bobby went on to get real about the challenges the band has faced, especially after he joined: “I spent a lot of time rebuilding after hearing ‘no’ from radio stations and managers. There were a lot of roadblocks—always coming back to one person.” The vocalist made it clear that while they’re not throwing shade, there’s no denying the setbacks caused by past actions.

Brad added more to the fire: “There were bridges burned that we’ve had to rebuild—self-sabotage that happened, and we’ve had to clean up the mess. Bobby’s been working hard to show that this is not the same SALIVA as before. We’re here to rock, and we’re ready to kick ass.”

When asked how they feel about Josey’s recent return to the stage, Bobby didn’t hold back: “For someone like him, after being away for so long, he’s gotta be humbled with the shows he’s doing now. But we’re clear—don’t use the SALIVA name. That’s stepping on everything we’ve worked hard to build over the last 13 years.”

What’s your take? Should Josey Scott be allowed to use the SALIVA name, or is the band right to draw a line? Let’s hear your thoughts!
