Just to let you know that in France/Europe there exists an opensource project for mountain activities: https://www.camptocamp.org/ It is run by a french based non profit association.

It is available in 8 languages, and uses the CC licences. The code is available on github: https://github.com/c2corg and everyone is welcome to improve both the database and the functions of the website.

I believe there is a potential for good collaboration across the atlantic, feel free to contact board@camptocamp.org to start the discussion !
