Differences are good when they allow people to live their lives happy and content. Difference is not good when used to exclude, demean, and destroy the lives of others. Democrats consider themselves to be the “Big Tent Party,” welcoming anyone who believes in the individuals inalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Our core belief is that a person should be able to afford to live on the amount of their paycheck, with access to health care that keeps them healthy, a public education system that teaches the skills and the civic guidelines we need to live together peacefully. Our belief that the personal freedom to be who they know themselves to be is a basic human right. Every Democrat believes this; even thought we may disagree on how to walk this path.

We cannot demand a purity test to participate in the Democratic Party’s push toward that more perfect union. If you find yourself in the political center, center-left, left, or far left you are welcome in the Democratic Party if you believe in the core message of “we are all in this together” and we must not do not harm to others, you are welcome and encourage to come into the tent.  If you have become a regretful Republican, the tent flaps are open. We welcome your questions and understand your reluctance to change, but if you truly embrace the idea that all men people are equal, the Big Blue Tent can be your shelter from the stormy chaos in our country today.

We must be able to engage with, and support all that believe in the concept that we are stronger together and that our differences are what make us stronger.

To make the message work for everyone, every Democrat (or Democrat adjacent) must vote.

Every journey begins with a first step and our journey to make Oklahoma good for everyone begins with each of us taking a step into the voting booth. You may not like all that a candidate has to say, but we begin by picking the better of the candidates and with each election we get better as we continue on the path towards that more perfect union as promised in our Constitution.
