By the way, there is a way to collectively widen and push down the peak of the Pareto curve. It involves two steps:

1) PAY FOR indie, alternative, local, self-financed, creator-lead art prioritzing living artists, through the most direct channels with the least middlemen.

2) REFUSE TO CONSUME blockbuster, pop, corporate, investor-lead art and back catalogs and severely limit ‘subscriptions’ and ‘platforms’ to curated channels only.

This is always easy to say and hard to do.

The first is difficult because we all have limited budgets and capacity for supporting all the art we want to support.

The second is difficult because you have to develop a significant intellectual detachment to popular culture and that will alienate you from your peers and cause you to miss out on some genuinely good work.
