I have a folder full of first chapters that will never see the light of day.

When I abandon a story, it's rarely because I ran out of ideas. Usually something in the execution just isn't clicking - a character feels flat, the pacing drags, or the plot refuses to cooperate.

Some stories are meant to live only in that first-chapter graveyard.
