2023 Las Vegas Raiders Outlook (6/7)

The Raiders have an offense that has five potential winning pieces - Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, Hunter Renfrow, and Michael Mayer, giving Jimmy Garoppolo the weapons to have a successful passing season. In the first run of their protections, I gave him 90% of the quarterback snaps. On the downside, Garoppolo has to get past his offseason foot surgery first. If not, Las Vegas will have a further step back in quarterback play.

I’m not a fan of the Raiders’ offensive line, inviting more sacks and smaller windows for their backs to run the ball. I expect regression in Josh Jacobs’s yards per carry, and he is trending toward a summer holdout after getting franchised in March.

Davante Adams remains a beast, but what does another change at quarterback mean to his production? His catch rate could rise, but at the same time, more of his catches could be closer to the line of scrimmage. Either way, Adams remains a beast and these question create a more favorable price point fantasy drafts in 2023.

The combo of Jakobi Meyers, Hunter Renfrow, and Michael Mayer will offer playable stats at different points this season. Meyers continues to improve while adding more scoring to his equation in 2022. Renfrow is a volume pass-catcher who works the short areas of the field, but he didn’t produce the expected targets in his first year in Josh McDaniels’ offense.

I expect Michael Mayer to hit the ground running due to his high level of production in college and his ability to block. Austin Hooper has plenty of NFL experience, but he will be outshined by Mayer in the passing game.
