I’m impressed with the feature. I was skeptical when Dan alluded to working on something with LLMs a while back, but this is a solid use case and I think will add some solid value for users of the Desmos curriculum. Great work from the Desmos team.
I have one core skepticism:
I am not sold that I want to base my discussions off of digital work.
Having computers out makes it much harder to lead discussions. The only way I've found these types of discussions to be effective is to have every student close their Chromebook. That creates a ton of friction - they don't want to do it, they try to slyly open it up again. And then when we finish everyone has to reconnect to wifi, etc. All of these issues mean it’s harder to keep students in more-or-less the same place in an activity, which makes the discussions less meaningful.
This is neat, it’s cool to see what’s possible with tech. But I’m not going to be banging down any doors to get access to the curriculum when this feature comes out next year.
