How to Mentally Survive America's New Great Depression

Sometimes, it seems that I make my best work when I surrender…

When I surrender to the process, working through the pain and grief of life, and everything in between.

I am grateful for the tension between the darkness of my emotions and the softness of the paintings.

Does this make sense? Is art one of the ways we can release those struggles?

When I imagine the bulbs, roots and little insects resting under the snow, patiently waiting for the season to pass, and spring to join us soon, I feel so at peace.

After a year of wandering, and letting go of my tendency to force things, I am so humbled by this new body of work, rooted in my gentle home journey. Check it out!

Original Art Is A Timeless Holiday Gift

Nature and inspiration are always interacting, aren't they? Did I pick up these dry flowers because I was looking for inspiration, or was I drawn to these after I put paint on paper?

No clear answer... just exploring a lot these days... and seeing where the trail may take me.

We are having the most incredible fall in the mid-atlantic. The yellows, oranges and browns feel both luxurious and cozy. The perfect mood for my new series. Currently experimenting with color swatches and forgiving watercolors. Perfect for the little perfectionist hiding inside me.

I have been in love with this design strategy to paint the ceilings of a room the same color and finish as the walls or even bolder patterns.
