I don't go to the cities, but doesn't surprise me that they're like that. One of the reasons I stay away from them. I can only speak for what I've seen around here. I do know some Covidians who wear masks all the time, and I see others around. I don't see all that many these days though. Since so many of the restrictions lifted, even the Covidians have gotten accustomed to being in places where most people aren't wearing masks and they seem to be alright with it.
I think a lot of people never got fully caught up in the hysteria- they adapt to what most people around them are doing. When that changes, they adapt just as easily.
Last week I was in a busy breakfast restaurant. Hardly anyone was wearing masks, and everyone was sitting close together, laughing and talking. There was only one guy I saw who put a mask on whenever he got up from his table. But if he was really fearful, he'd never have gone to such a place, right?
As for me, I just don't go anywhere that requires a mask unless I really have to go there. And then I'm crabby, just like you were at the college tour.
