I'm a doodle artist, graphic designer, cat mom, fan of nature's beauty, collector of interesting shadows, and iPhone photographer.

I often work with threes. In today’s collage, I worked with three main colors — reds, blue, and greys, I have triangles, and three circles. I also worked with the Rule of Thirds. Odd numbers are much more dynamic than even numbers.

I’ve devised a bunch of creative challenges to help when I’m feeling stuck for what to do. I share a one of these challenges in today’s newsletter. It’s something I call Waveforms, and I’ve been using it a lot lately in my visual journal.

I’d love to see your take on Waveforms!

Creative Spark Plug: Waveforms

Nine new little 2×2 inch collages.

Everyday I show up and make a 6×8 inch cut paper collage. I’ve been doing it now for nearly two years. Having a consistent making practice has really opened up a lot of possibilities.

My 12-year-old son, Landon carries a separate notebook with him to school so when he has a little free time in class he can sketchnote his ideas. This idea was to re-use old auto parts to create Super Street streetcars. More proof that sketchnotes DO NOT NEED TO BE PERFECT TO BE EFFECTIVE!

When all seems lost in doom and hopelessness, there are your words Brad, rekindling hope, positivity and humanly super hero strength. Thank you.

It's been a long stretch since I shared anything here online. What a gift to know these words found you and meant something. I really can't thank you enough for this encouragement, friend. Grateful to be in this with you.

Just saw this! So excited to read! I’m writing a piece right this second about the evolution of how we think about power through the lens of superheroes and a little bit of LOTR. Excited to jump in! This is the good work Brad!

The way you described the embers and the air... that alone is proof your words are very much alive, friend. The way your words have lifted my day today? Even more proof that what you say matters deeply. Thank you so so so much for these kind words and your heart. The revolution of goodness and love is better because you're in it.

Brad, this is one of the best, most important things I’ve ever read. You have a gift, and I am so very grateful you’re using that gift because I sure as heck needed this very true but so hard to remember pep talk. I haven’t known what to say in the last couple of weeks - which for a writer is quite unnerving - but you have articulated so perfectly the words I have been grasping for. I thought maybe the ash heap of grief in my heart had snuffed them out- but the embers were still there, just wai…
