You’re on your own, kid.
This morning I was listening to Kelly Clarkson’s two new singles - mine/me - and it struck me how many female singers are putting out songs about relying on no one but themselves.
Taylor Swift put out You’re on your own, kid. Miley Cyrus has Flowers. And now Clarkson.
Then I read this theskimm.com/stateofwomen/harris-poll-d… from the Skimm where a big finding is that “while women are exhausted and disappointed, they have not given up. They have simply given up on the illusion of external support.”
So many women I know feel this no matter what their situations are. But this is also true, “the plan is to do it all differently, because help isn’t coming, except from each other.”
