Notes is fantastic. I love the idea.

But I share a concern in the increasing push for app use from Substack.

I fear it will commoditise authors. In particular, as users opt from app notifications only, they’ll stop receiving our newsletter on their inbox. Which could lead to lower open rates (I must say I see this trend in my stats), as people will pile up unread articles in the app. In the app, each author’s articles mix with others in the feed, while this does not happen in the email.

Reminds me a bit to the endless list of “I’ll read later” content on Pocket.
