FDALabel: Full-Text Search of Drug Product Labeling. Web-based application to search labeling documents of FDA-approved drug products (posted 03/24/25)

We recently discovered a search tool called FDALabel, which enables you to “perform customizable searches of over 150,000 human prescription, biological, over-the-counter (OTC), and animal drug labeling documents.”

The data is the FDA's Structured Product Labeling (SPL) archive, which stores labeling documents submitted by manufacturers.

FDALabel Database is useful for:

• Health Care Providers: Quick access to drug indications and warnings

• Pharmaceutical Companies: Drug development

• Researchers: Drug safety, drug repurposing, precision medicine,, and regulatory science.

Example: We used the database to search for the over-the-counter drug acetaminophen caplets, commonly used pain relievers with concerning side effects. Here’s the result of that search (link below):
