New Laws. By Dorothy Moon, IDGOP Chairwoman (07/11/24): idgop.org/2024/07/11/new-laws

While people on the left label conservatives as "domestic terrorists" for speaking at school board meetings, defending harmful materials in libraries, standing for our rights, wanting lower taxes, and opposing the indoctrination of children, the Idaho legislature supported many of these so-called “domestic terrorist” commonsense ideas in 2024.

Dorothy Moon commented upon several laws that went into effect in Idaho on July 1:

  • Senate Bill 1361: Mandates that school boards allow public comment before implementing any new policy.

  • House Bill 710: Gives parents a process for removing books from schools and libraries that are obscene and harmful to children.

  • Senate Bill 1232: Ensures that any parent under investigation by Child Protective Services is informed of their constitutional rights, including the right to an attorney.

  • House Bill 498: Requires websites to use age verification to prevent children from being exposed to pornographic content.

  • House Bill 71 (2023): Banned child gender mutilation through drugs or surgeries. House Bill 668 (2024): Prohibits using public funds for any gender transition.

We’re hoping for even better results and a revival of some good bills that didn’t pass or were held in committee without being heard.
