Bureau of Land Management. Idaho Lava Ridge Wind Project. Lava Ridge Wind Project Record of Decision (ROD) (posted 12/07/24; updated 12/13/24)

BLM advances Lava Ridge Wind Project in Southern Idaho. Final approval reflects 40% reduction of turbines from initial proposal; defers other projects in region. Press release (12/06/24)

TWIN FALLS, Idaho–The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) today approved the Lava Ridge Wind Project northeast of Twin Falls, Idaho, which could power as many as 500,000 homes with clean energy, while creating hundreds of jobs and supporting local and regional economies. The project footprint reduces the area disturbed from the initial proposal by half, decreases the number of turbines from 400 to 241 (231 on BLM-managed lands and 10 on lands managed by the State of Idaho) and imposes a maximum height limit of 660 feet for turbines, consistent with extensive public and community feedback regarding the protection of sensitive natural and cultural resources. blm.gov/press-release/b…

Yes, folks, the BLM is going ahead with the Idaho Lava Ridge Wind Project — over the objections of nearly every Idahoan and Idaho state and federal representatives.

It’s a travesty and the decision needs to be reversed. Will this happen under Trump? Who knows? The Idaho Governor and Attorney General and Senator James Risch are standing strong!
