"Medical Freedom Movement" Circular Firing Squad. You can't always get what you want. By Robert W Malone MD, MS (12/28/24)
Dr. Robert Malone’s Experience with the Medical Freedom Movement and why he’s opting out…
Frankly, after nearly four years of constant, literally daily attacks by representatives of both corporate media and the self-appointed arbiters of the “Medical Freedom Movement” truth and consensus, I have grown weary of the drama, circular firing squads, pettiness, false accusations, innuendo, defamation, divisiveness, gaslighting, grandstanding, and amazing levels of dysfunction.
I am constantly struck by the observation that both corporate media and these self-appointed representatives often resort to the same business model of hate-mongering, rumor, and innuendo to promote clicks, likes, and follows.
My response has been to opt out of this “movement” to preserve my own sanity and happiness (and that of my wife and partner, Dr. Jill Malone, who is also being attacked now), if for no other reason.
What is a Circular Firing Squad? Think of people standing in a circle, pointing fingers (or firing) at the person next to them.
A political party or other group experiencing considerable disarray because the members are engaging in internal disputes and mutual recrimination. —Wictionary: en.wiktionary.org/wiki/…
What is a quid pro quo? A Latin phrase meaning “something for something.”
Quid pro quo is something given or received for something else. Also, a deal arranging a quid pro quo — Merriam Webster online dictionary: merriam-webster.com/dic…
Dr. Malone provides an excellent summary of how movements, including the medical freedom movement, eat their own via circular firing squad. We’re seeing this predatory behavior all around us — in MAGA, MAHA, DOGE, the Republican and Democrat Parties, etc.
Dr. Malone opens with these paragraphs:
The self-styled “Medical Freedom Movement” is turning its guns on yet another of its heroes, HHS Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Circular firing squads are a chronic cultural feature of Washington DC bureaucracy, giving rise to the insider aphorism “keep your head down, if they can’t see you they can’t shoot you.”
Right up there with another of my favorites from dealing with the DC inside-the-beltway crowd: “If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.”
Understand those two, and you are a long way down the road toward understanding DC culture.
Key Points:
President-elect Donald Trump takes the non-negotiable position that both Operation Warp Speed (OWS) and the ensuing RNA “vaccine” products were among his greatest achievements.
Many speak of a possible quid pro quo (unproven yet) between Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and those associated with the Trump HHS “transition” team to support certain nominees and discussions but not others (e.g., non-mRNA vaccines = bad; mentioning mRNA vaccines = bad; cleaning up food = good).
The “Medical Freedom Movement” could be considered a type of “mass formation” that coalesces, reaches a certain size, and then splinters or breaks up altogether. Such formations have been happening for millennia. First you’re on the team; then you’re out.
Jeffrey A. Tucker (Brownstone Institute founder) and Toby Rogers (red-pilled former liberal and Brownstone Institute contributor) discuss splits within freedom and small government movements.
Purity spirals — are your thoughts and actions pure enough?
The medical freedom movement hierarchy is based on who has put in the most work and who understands the issues the best.
The “sudden” medical freedom movement appearance of Pharmaceutical lobbyist Calley Means and his sister Dr. Casey Means appears suspicious and is receiving blowback among others in the movement.
Some in the medical freedom movement accuse others of acting on behalf of the CIA (whether intentionally or unintentionally), often without direct evidence.
Who are the medical freedom movement insiders and outsiders?
Characteristics of a cult.
What can happen when individuals feel snubbed (the assassination of President Garfield by a disgruntled campaign worker being an extreme example).
The delicate path Trump’s transition team must take. Quote from Frank Herbert, Dune: “A beginning is a very delicate time. A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct.”
Wisdom from the Rolling Stones “You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you’ll find, you get what you need.”
ED NOTE
Dr. Malone's post reflects the harsh reality of how challenging the swamps 🐊 are to navigate. Unfortunately, making real change happen requires working with insiders and others who may have different priorities. This is one of the toughest truth pills for those in any freedom movement to swallow (puns intended).
Dr. Malone's experience is not unique. Many outspoken advocates for health freedom have experienced first-hand the:
→ Splintered factions or individuals that may become compromised by desire for product sales, clicks, money, fame, or power;
→ Individuals who lose sight of what's important — the mission, not themselves;
→ The hurt of being attacked, snubbed, undermined, or having your efforts hijacked by others who take credit for your work;
→ Former friends and fellow freedom travelers who question your motives or accuse you of being "controlled opposition" if you approach problems, science, or facts differently.
As citizens, we must focus on working locally, in our own communities and states, with trustworthy people who want to do the right thing. We must continue educating the public and our legislators about the change we are seeking. And we must continually question our own motives to be sure we aren't compromising our sincerely held beliefs or becoming part of the circular firing squad (or a cult).
