Musicians:

If musical skill is important to you, decide what you want to improve and practice

If teaching is important, decide how you want to teach better, and do it.

If getting gigs or making money is important, spend time regularly offering/selling your services (preferably in 1-1 conversations first).

Choose which of these is most important now, and focus on that. Then let the other areas you care about fall in line with the thing you are most focused on right now.

Of all the musicians I advise- pros, teachers, amateurs- the one factor in their musical progression and enjoyment is self-esteem aka emotional intelligence.

-Whether you practice or procrastinate

-Whether you take on new musical skills, styles, challenges or plateau

-Whether you engage with other musicians, listen back to recordings of yourself, or not.

-Whether you dare to offer your services in a professional capacity or wait for the phone to ring
