On the eve of another season, I’m so excited to share this with y’all, our loyal and earnest Split Zone Duo subscribers. Earlier this summer, I got invited to participate in a Originals program. For me, watching this back reaffirms why I do this -- not just , but why I devote some much time effort and energy to this silly little game played on fall Saturdays. It’s a timely reminder that this thing matters far beyond what happens between the white lines. There will be times this season when I’ll question why I do this and if it’s worth it. But I remember the 8-year-old boy who realized this sport made him feel something while watching a Gator game. I owe it to him, just as much as I owe it to all of you to keep talking about this sport in new and interesting ways. I’m only 1/3 of what we do here, and an even smaller percentage of the bigger Team SZD (that very much includes you if you’re reading this). Whether you’re disillusioned by the portal, or realignment, or the fact that your team just cannot beat their rival, our devotion to this sport is why we’re all here.
